The preparation of the report arises within the scope of the Final Internship Curriculum Unit and Report introduced in the study plan of the 14th Master's Course in Nursing - Specialization in Medical-surgical Nursing, in Nursing to Persons in Critical Situations of the Institute of Health Sciences-Porto of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. The internship took place in the contexts of Emergency Service and Intensive Care Units from september 6th to october 27th, 2021 and october 28th to september 18th, 2021 respectively. With this Report I intend to highlight all the work and path necessary to take the leap from Generalist Nurse to Specialist Nurse, based on the research capacity developed, analysis and critical reasoning and argumentation progress. With this work I intend to describe the experiences lived throughout the internship, referring to the relevant aspects of all my learning, consolidating knowledge and factors that contributed to my performance, as well as an excellent way to analyze the achievement of all my objectives previously formulated in my internship project and their true importance for future activities. The 1st chapter addresses the professional career of the author with a wide and consolidated experience in gastroenterology and cardiology and as a responsible Nurse, at the Special Examination Unit and the Intervention Hemodynamics and Radiology Unit, having obtained credit for the 1st Year internship on that option area. Patient safety is central focus on the excellence of nursing care, and the issue of patient safety is becoming a central issue at European level, but also worldwide, especially in the last two decades, due to day-to-day working conditions, namely the complexity of patients, as well as the technological evolution associated with the rotation of professionals within institutions; on the other hand, Associated with the fact that patients are more enlightened and informed, which allows an increase in the level of demand on the part as users. The work is based on the theoretical model with which the author most identifies what was the guiding thread of learning Patricia Benner's Model (2001), who developed a Skills Acquisition Model, with reference to Dreyfus' Competence Acquisition Model. The promotion of an adequate environment is considered a specialized nursing intervention, which allows gains in person in critical situation health, having contributed to the quality of care provided, such as noise reduction. It was pertinent to carry out 2 studies on this topic namely a Literature Review - Assessment of the risk of falling in the emergency service - Morse Scale, and another based on effective communication, Recommendations at discharge for patients undergoing implantation of cardiac devices and their work instruction. When we talk about people who care for the sick, we cannot ignore that error is intrinsic to the human person; error exists, is real and is always present. Faced with this reality, it is imposed on the human being, endowed with intelligence, the ability to find strategies to minimize or even eliminate it. Communication, being the common denominator of human relations, is also the pillar of patient safety; since the transfer of care between peers is based on effective communication, this can be done verbally or in writing.
