Abstract

The promotion of health is directly related to healthy lifestyle habits, through the inclusion of health plans and programs with actions that prevent exposure to conditioning and determining factors of disease. Identifying the health needs of a teaching community enabled the development of health programs that provided tools and resources to develop a critical perspective in students on health issues, empowering them to make health decisions. This report translated the process and result of a community intervention project, carried out as part of the Master's Degree in Nursing with specialization in Community in Public Health. In order to identify the health needs of teachers in the 2nd, 3rd cycle, and high school of a school covered by the action of a Grouping of Health Centers, the School for Health in Europe quick assessment tool was adapted to collect data, considering the starting point for the development of the community intervention project. Although the results did not meet the initial expectations, the study revealed important information that identified relevant needs and areas of attention, namely the relevance of reinforcing the presence and integration of the Community Care Unit in the management of various projects being implemented in the school, in the health field. The development of the project contributed to the development of specialized skills in Community and Public Health Nursing, program management, health planning, community empowerment, and epidemiological surveillance, as well as the development of skills envisaged for the Master's Degree in Nursing.
