Abstract

This internship report aims to understand the role of Communication Design in the Materahub creative center, and how this enhances the development of the Cultural and Creative Industries of the region where it is inserted, Basilicata. A curricular internship was held under the Master's degree in Creative Industries Management at the Consorzio Materahub creative center, as Communication Designer, by the student. This internship allowed the intern to professionalize in the area of Communication Design. Through the work carried out in this area, it was possible to understand the importance that Communication Design has to make territories more appealing and improve the living conditions of populations, while strengthening community ties and transforming companies and public services. The designer has the ability to understand and anticipate what the future will be and foresee the potential of emerging ideas, these abilities place him in a privileged situation with society and with creative communities, because he contributes to the creation of new experiences, new relationships. and new solutions in Social Innovation. Creative centers arise when there is the possibility of economically boosting the cultural and creative industries of a certain region, establishing contacts and attracting investors that increase and foster the creativity and culture of the region or community where they are located. Also encouraging the social inclusion and cultural diversity of this region, creating added value through various sectors, such as tourism. In the case of Materahub, due to the historical and cultural value of the region, there is the possibility of an economic boost in the Cultural and Creative Industries of the region of Basilicata, where the creative center is located. Through participation in various stages of projects and through integration into the organizational environment, specifically in Materahub's communication team, it allowed them to experience and actively participate in the role of communication design and identify how it enhances the development of the Cultural and Creative Industries of region where it is located.
