Abstract

This research proposes maternal dialogues with a focus on deconstructing the mother-woman’ visual representation through the perspective and experience from various artists whose works contain intense emotional, feminist and identificatory content. With reference to the object of study, a brief contextualization of the maternal cycles is combined as a rupture of the idealization and romanticization pertinent to each phase, historically cultivated. The research confronts the persistence of imaginary creations that remain in maternal idealism and compulsion hardly empathetic or beneficial to women's mental health. The recognition of this study transfers an intense personal transformation and thus establishes a relationship between image production as a therapeutic, psychological and political instrument that integrates motherhood, in addition to the distinctions and usability of the arts as an art-therapeutic context, its functions as a acknowledge, networks support and cure.
