The Nurses Deontological Code states that Nurses must practice the profession with the adequate scientific and technical knowledge, with respect for life, human dignity and for the health and well-being of the population, taking all measures to improve the quality of care and nursing services, as well as contributing to dignify the profession (Ordem dos Enfermeiros, 2015a). With the goal to increase my scientific and technical knowledge, as well as developing relation, communication and ethical skills, in order to improve the quality of care provided, I enrolled in a Masters Degree in Critical Care Nursing. The Critical Care field is the one I choose to develop my skills as a Specialist Nurse given that it’s the field I’ve been working at since the start of my career and also the one in which I feel more comfortable, identify with and want to learn more about. This report aims to describe and analyze the activities and skills developed during the internships, as well as to link them to my growth as a Specialist Nurse in Critical Care Nursing. The internships happened in an Emergency Service in a central hospital, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and an observational internship in a Hemodynamic Laboratory. There will be a presentation of the specific objectives to reach in each context, as well as the activities to achieve such objectives. A scoping review was conducted about “Nursing responsibility in physical restraint in the emergency unit – a scoping review”. Physical restraint is a subject talked about in Nursing for decades, always debated because of the implication of human rights and the duty to protect and maintain the patient’s life.
