This paper aims to evaluate the degree of implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Mozambican companies. To this end, fifteen companies, based in Maputo, were selected to respond to an inquiry, applied in person by the author. As might be expected, there was a disparity in the degree of CSR implementation between the types of firms studied: large firms and multinationals had a higher level of implementation than micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, to accelerate the degree of CSR implementation in Mozambique, it is suggested that multinational companies operating in Mozambique incorporate and disseminate internally and externally these practices on a continuous basis in order to positively influence competitors and other companies, of their supply chain, where they will eventually have more influence. It is also suggested that there should be greater awareness or generalized training on these issues by systematically revealing new international strategies, policies and practices. It seems to be possible to conclude that the importance given to CSR by Mozambican companies is currently insignificant, even though there are punctual considerable measures. The (growing) presence of multinationals can be a source of acceleration, in the contribution of companies to sustainable development and consequent desirable balance between the economic, social and environmental pillars.
