The balance between economic growth and social responsibility in developing countries is one of the topics that has deserved greater emphasis by European entities. Most studies related to social responsibility focus on business and limit their scope to internal and external influence, disregarding a more general framework of analysis. The main objective of this dissertation is to identify the relationship between Social Responsibility and the media, as well as the valence of influence, i.e. the Social Responsibility and the role of media for the dissemination of good practices. This exploratory study uses the NVIVO10 program for treatment of qualitative data. The sample consists of two newspapers and an economic nature magazine with national projection and involves a set of these papers in the period from 2012 to 2014. The results show that, predominantly, enterprises practice Legal Social Responsibility, although there still exists some confusion with the real Social Responsibility. This fact is used by the companies to obtain direct and indirect gains.
