The present study seeks to explore the interaction between the psychosocial risks and the engagement of Public Prosecutors by using the analysis of the psychological capital as the moderator of this relationship. It was considered a sample of 160 individuals who were asked to respond to an online questionnaire composed by three subscales of the short version of COPSOQ (Kristensen et al., 2005), the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (Schaufeli, Bakker and Salanova, 2006) and the PsyCap Questionnaire (Luthans et al., 2007b). To test the hypotheses, we used simple and multiple hierarchical linear regressions. The results obtained, as expected, demonstrate the negative impact of psychosocial risks and the positive impact of psychological capital on the engagement. However, the hypothesis of moderation was not supported, so it is not possible to deduce that psychological capital attenuates the negative role of psychosocial risks on the workers engagement. This data demonstrates the need for strategies capable of mitigate the negative impact of psychosocial risks on the wellbeing of Public Prosecutors and to deepen the relationships established between the studied variables using larger samples.
