Abstract

The Nursing Master Degree with Specialization on Surgical-Medical Nursing (EEMC) consisted in a very important strategy for the high level acquisition of clinic judgement and acting acts. These ones have as a result an agglomerated of specific abilities with the propose to improve nursing cares to patient and its family when they are on a very critical illness stage at a deeper level of knowledge and skills. The Report aimed to describe the solutions developed for the situations/problems identified, to reflect about the activities undertaken and their ethical and social implications and to report the conclusions obtained during the Intensive Care (CI) and Pre-hospital Emergency (APH) Internship Modules. The Family Welcome Guide at Multi-purpose Intensive Care Unit (UCIP), the poster about schockable heart rhythms, the project “prevention of sensory deprivation in patients hospitalized at Multi-propose Intensive Care Unit”, the collaboration in the Course of Basic Life Support (SBV) and the drafting of the Pocket Guide "Adult Basic Life Support Algorithm" were my specific contributions within the multidisciplinary team within the scope of Specialization. Fundamentally, this Report intended to (i) Explain diagnosed situations and problems and the contributions and remedial measures suggested and implemented; (ii) Assess the achievement of general and specific objectives proposed in the internship plan, alluding to difficulties experienced; (iii) Reflect critically on the set of activities performed and skills acquired or developed; (iv) Review the most significant experiences during the Internship and what was learned in each case. The methodology used to prepare this document was essentially descriptive, reflective and analytical of the lived experience and based on renowned authors. Structurally, the Report is divided into four main parts. In the introduction is performed the framework of the Course with mention of the Modules, the justification and characterization of the local Stage, the objectives of the report and the justification of its structure. In the second and third parts are presented the objectives pursued, the achievement of the activities and the acquisition and development of skills which gave answer to curricular requirement on each Internship Modules. The final considerations and future prospects are presented in the fourth part. Posteriorly, are made the bibliographic references and annexes with relevant contributions in the area of Specialization.
