Abstract
With this dissertation we will know Saint Teotonius, his importance in the beginnings of the History of Portugal and his Christianity, bearing in mind that he was one of the founders and the first prior of the monastery of Santa Cruz. This monastery was one of the main monasteries in the History of Portugal, both religiously and culturally. In addition, we will also understand how the iconography of this Saint can be an important pastoral and catechetical aid for our "pilgrimage" towards holiness.But more than the acquired knowledge, which is of extreme importance, it is also worth noting the enrichment that this knowledge manifests in our human dimension and, above all, spiritual dimension. Through this scientific work we discover how St. Teotonius is a great example of holiness, humility, nobility and charity, ideals perpetuated in history by his work, the Monastery of Santa Cruz, but also by iconography.
