This report focuses on the study, a set of activities implemented in schools and directs the intervention project in the community for the actions related to the promotion of oral hygiene and body in the students attending the 1st year 1st cycle of basic education and gardens-schools of the Group of Schools of Gondomar. The work has as its cornerstone the stage of community intervention performed during the frequency of the Post-Graduate Specialization in Community Nursing in the academic year 2009/2010, the School of Nursing of Porto, with the frequency of Course: Stage Community Intervention I, which was performed in the first phase of Health Planning, with the completion of a Diagnostic Health, in order to promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles, with presentation of its results and subsequent prioritization of health needs the population of ACES from the Grand Porto II - Gondomar (students of 2nd year of a cycle of Vertical Group of Schools of Rio Tinto II), and from which it was concluded that health diagnosis would be the starting point for the community intervention proposal. The abovementioned diagnosis of the health and after the technique for prioritizing according to the method of Hanlon, there was obtained a hierarchical list of problems 41 were selected and the ten priority needs to be working within the draft Community Intervention II, highlighting the needs that are related to hygiene and safety habits, since 85.3% of students reported not make washing hands in less than seven of the eight occasions proposals, 74.8% of students do not perform hand disinfection in 4 of 5 occasions proposals and 32.9% of students reported not brushing their teeth at least twice a day (morning and evening). From the needs identified, intervened on the students attending the 1st year of the 1st cycle of basic education and garden-care of the Group of Schools of Gondomar, with emphasis on the results, which demonstrate and emphasize that the average assessments of knowledge (in the areas of oral hygiene and body) made to students from four schools intervened, lies between 74.4% and 97.8%. With regard to the quantitative evaluation knowledge to values equal to or greater than 50%, the averages are between 70% and 100%. These facts demonstrate the success of interventions implemented given that was initially proposed a figure of 70% as operational objective, this goal was clearly exceeded in all institutions where the project was implemented, which makes us reflect on the supreme importance of implementation of intervention projects in schools, providing a promoter of health gains
