This research aimed to understand the relation between satisfaction with social support and cognitive function of elderly enrolled in USF AmareSaúde. It was intended to also check the influence of other factors on these variables, trying to determine the satisfaction with social support and also the cognitive level of individuals. The sample consists of 100 subjects of both sexes, aged between 65 and 75 years, attending USF AmareSaúde, the county of Amares. The study is correlational, quantitative and descriptive. In the present investigation we have utilized the following instruments: a questionnaire of sociodemographic characteristics, the Barthel index in order to assess the level of dependency of the elderly, also used the MoCA test to understand the cognitive level and the ESSS by José Ribeiro to assess satisfaction with social support. By analyzing the SPSS, it was obtained the following main results, the sample under study is mostly female (56%), married (80%) and mostly are independent DLA's (85%). In the MoCA test it was found that 64% had cognitive impairment in mean that the score is 22, 33 points. Of the 7 areas of MoCA test (visuospatial executive, attention, naming, language, abstraction, and orientation evocation), who showed a pronounce changes are: visuospatial executive, attention, language and evocation. In ESSS obtained an average score of 51.99, which means that the sample demonstrates moderate to high social support. The item social support is the one that brings more satisfaction.is family. After the correlation between test data MoCA and scale ESSS can be seen that there is a positive correlation but this one is weak, yet significant.
