Leadership has been defined in many different ways. Each definition focuses on diverse aspects and has been changing over the time. As a matter of fact, leadership is required in all organizations and it consists of a relationship between the leader and the group. There have been many studies concentrating on the topic of Professional Satisfaction, highlightening its relevance from an individual, group and social perspective. This research paper has been developed to assess nurses’ satisfaction as far the leadership style of the supervisor nurse is concerned. Based on this, a quantitative, transversal analytic-correctional study has been developed in a sample of 105 nurses (100 subordinated nurses and 5 supervisors). The vast majority of the subordinated nurses are female (81%), single (75%), graduated (95%), with an age average of 28,3 years old and performing their job less than 5 years. As far as the supervisor nurses are concerned, four are female and one is male. Their age average is 46 years old and they practice the job for around 23 years. They possess 10 years of supervising experience and have an average of 7,4 years of supervision in the service where they currently perform the job. The means used for the data collection was the questionnaire, specifically the “Questionário de Liderança em Enfermagem” - QLE (Loureiro 2006), which has been applied to supervisor nurses, the “Work Discriptive Index” - JDI (Warr e Routledge 1969, translated and adapted by J. Correia Jesuino, L. Soczka, J. Guerreira Matoso 1983) and “Short from Supervision Satisfaction Questionnaire” ( adapted from Munson 2000 by Garrido 2004), which has been applied to subordinated nurses. Results suggest that 49% of the nurses are highly satisfied with the supervision and only 13% expressed low or very low rates in terms of supervision satisfaction. 84% of the nurses revealed high levels of professional satisfaction whereas the lower levels of satisfaction appear at an organization level (as a whole) and with the medical assistance auxiliaries. One can conclude that the most positive results in terms of satisfaction were achieved by supervisor nurses that are particularly focused towards human relationships. On the contrary supervisor nurses more oriented towards the task obtained lower results. Moreover and regarding professional satisfaction, statistically significant changes have been observed at the level of the medical auxiliary sub-variables (p=0,015), of the promotion perspectives (p=0,030) and immediate superior (p=0,000). When analyzing the supervisor nurse control and influence, it has been noticed that there was no direct relationship between nurses’ satisfaction and supervision. As far as the professional satisfaction is concerned, one can observe that there are statistically significant changes in regards to the immediate superior sub-variable (p=0,001) and promotion perspectives (p=0,022).
