Abstract
The scientific relevance of the present study is related to the fact that,increasingly, the satisfaction of portuguese workers directly or indirectly has influence on
the good functioning of an organization. Since leadership has gained relevance in the area
of collective well-being within an organization, this study intends to analyze the
influence of leadership on job satisfaction of portuguese workers. For this purpose, three
instruments were used: Socio-Demographic Questionnaire, developed specifically for the
characterization of the sample of this research, the Meliá and Peiró’s Work Satisfaction
Scale (1989) adapted for the portuguese population by Ferreira, Fernandes, Santos and
Peiró (2013) and Cremer’s Proactive Leadership Scale (2015), also adapted for the
portuguese population (Lobo, F. & Lobo, M., 2015). The study had the participation of
143 subjects and the data collected were analyzed in the IBM SPSS version 24. The
results indicated that there is no statistically significant relationship between job
satisfaction and proactive leadership, however, a significant relationship was found
between the leadership subscale emotional and subscale satisfaction intrinsic.
