This report resumes the set of learning and skills developed within the Final Stage Course Unit and the Master's Report in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the Specialization Area for People in Crítical Situation, with the purpose of acquiring a master's degree. This document seeks to disseminate the objectives and results of activities carried out in the context of clinical practice at the Patient Safety Office and the General Emergency Service, by presenting the cases considered most relevant in this learning path, using a descriptive, analytical methodology and reflective critic on decision making in problem solving. Patient Safety and more specifically, the use of the medication, have established themselves as one of the main focuses of attention in the investigation as well as in the basis of interventions in nursing practices during the internship. The understanding of human and system failures is the central aspect for the elaboration of prevention strategies regarding the safety and quality of care. Aspects such as the notification process, feedback, the systemic and non-punitive approach, promoting a safe environment and strengthening a culture of safety. For that, to guarantee a suitable workload and the training of health professionals in this area, constitutes a fundamental strategy in inducing changes in practice. In my developing skills path in the Emergency Department, I highlight my improvement as a nurse who facilitates the transition of health / illness of the patient and family in a particular context care determined by a pandemic and the performance in accordance with the infection prevention and control plan. This path contributed to support a transformative vision of care, with scientific, ethical and cultural foundations as the basic pillar of specialized nursing care.
