In the search for the enhancing of aesthetics, tooth bleaching is presented today as a primordial method for removing dental decolouration and pigmentation. For that, oxidising substances are used, mostly based on Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2). One of the most reported complications is the dental sensitivity, which may cause some discomfort or even prevent the completion of the treatment. The symptoms are in most cases mild or temporary. Within the study carried on at Clínica Universitária of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, were admitted 40 patients, distributed in two groups of 20 individuals each. The dental Bleaching was executed using Carbamide Peroxide at 10% and Hydrogen Peroxide at 38% (whether it was held at home or in office). The data related to the sensitivity, was obtained by a survey applied before and after the tooth Bleaching and analysed statically. It was intended to discern the sensitivity triggered by each of these treatments as well as the significant differences, if any, between the dental bleaching held at home or in the office. During the in office Bleaching, there was no record of any kind of sensitivity. In the first tree hours after, 13 patients said they had sensitivity, being 2 of them referred as severe. One day past, the number of cases reduced to 7 and after a week just 3 of the total cases stated still tooth sensitivity. The at home Bleaching resulted in 9 cases of tooth sensitivity after the first tree days, stated between minor and mild and after a week there were just two cases referring any type of discomfort. Ate the end of the treatment, the results remained the same. We may conclude that in office Bleaching originates more sensitivity cases then at home treatment, and that it is perceived as mild to severe. There was a global satisfaction of the results in both treatments.
