In the last few years there has been a surge of movements connected to support groups of football clubs. With this increase of movements, came the need to understand the motivations and behaviours of these specific groups. In the present study we strive to understand the motivations behind the behaviours of support group members, from potential origins in deindividuation processes or the role of emoticons and identification levels of supporters in the support groups they joined The results we gathered point to a particular role of the identification roles in a supporter with his support group. There levels end up intensifying potential deindividuation processes, which in turn are in the origin of violent behaviour. Higher identification has an impact on the development of the social foundation of the supporter, since they feel the support group is a safe space with people with similar points of views and beliefs to their own.
