This dissertation analyses social responsibility in the film sector in Portugal, focusing on the interactions between film productions and local communities. The research aims to explore the social and cultural impacts of film productions, considering how they influence the communities where they are filmed and how they can collaborate more responsibly with these communities. Through interviews with industry professionals and local community members, the dissertation investigates current community involvement practices and proposes guidelines to promote a more ethical and inclusive approach in Portuguese cinema. This study contributes to the reflection on how film productions can create positive, long-lasting impacts by respecting local cultural identities and contributing to these communities. The research suggests a model of good practices to be adopted by productions, with the goal of improving collaboration and increasing the social and cultural impact of productions in the country.
