Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the mental health of the Portuguese population due to the insecurity generated by the balance between personal and professional life. When a human being is endowed with mental health, they have the ability to deal with everyday stress situations and, therefore, mental health is as important as physical health. Thus, stress can play a significant role in the development of mental illnesses, which, in turn, can increase stress levels. Managing stressful situations and solving problems in these circumstances is easier for healthcare professionals who have emotional regulation tools. The community intervention project was developed in a health institution of the ACeS do Estuário do Tejo, whose mission is to provide services to people with disabilities, of various age groups, and their families,, contributing to their quality of life through prevention, education, rehabilitation, social and professional insertion. The Health Planning methodology was followed, supported by Nola Pender's Health Promotion Model. The situational diagnosis was the starting point of this project, and through the application of the Stresse Perception Scale, it was possible to determine the presence of emotional disorders in the institution’s healthcare professionals, who constituted our target population. Nursing diagnoses were prioritized (according to CIPE® 2019 and based on the mentioned theoretical model), and the general project objective was defined: to contribute to the promotion of health literacy on mental health institution professionals. The execution and evaluation of activities continued the health planning process. However, as a Community and Public Health Specialist Nurse, it is necessary to continue this project and promote emotional intelligence techniques for emotion control among healthcare professionals, and, in this way, enable better provision of daily care.| Date of Award | 20 Nov 2024 |
