The central theme developed was the social support as a promoter of parental role, where I try to demonstrate the importance of Nurse Specialist on Pediatrics and Child Health role, using social support as an intervention to promote parental role. The basic construct is the promotion of parental role in the transitions that occur behind the life cycle of the child/youth and transitions of health/disease, whose theoretical framework is based on the Afaf Meleis theory. The social support emerges as an intervention strategy that according to the three functional dimensions advocated by Pais-Ribeiro, allows the nurse of Pediatrics and Child Health to implement interventions based on the resources of each family and community, aiming the promotion of parental role. This way, was found that the crises generated by non-normative or normative transitions can be eased through an integrated health rucial in managing this process, to promote an experience more effective of the parental role.
