In recent years, sustainability has become a key priority for companies, guiding them to a new reality driven by increasingly strict environmental, social, and economic demands. This study analyzes how the implementation of sustainable practices in the textile supply chain and the associated challenges affects the environmental performance and competitiveness of Portuguese companies. A qualitative approach was adopted, based on structured interviews with fifteen companies representing different stages of the value chain. The results reveal that companies have been adapting their processes to improve environmental impact through consumption reduction measures, waste management, recycling initiatives, and the use of more efficient technologies. However, obstacles such as high costs, lack of transparency and low consumer awareness remain. One of the biggest challenges encountered by companies is finding a balance between sustainability and profit. Therefore, financial incentives and support are essential for companies to meet market demands, using sustainability as a strategic opportunity.
