Introduction: The elderly population with palliative needs is increasing exponentially and it is urgente to intervene with these patients in a holistic way, always bearing in mind the concept of “total pain”. Thus, i tis necessary to invest more and more in the study of non-pharmacological strategies as a complemente to traditional measures. One of the existing non-pharmacological strategies is reminiscence therapy, which consists of recovering the memories that the subject has about his past that are significantly accessed to be reviewed, repeated, interoreted and often shared with other people, with the main objective of promoting adaptation to the current momento of life. Objective: The objective of this scoping review is to map the existing evidence on the use of reminiscence therapy in the elderly population with palliative needs. Metodology: This scoping review followed the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and the research was carried out on March 6, 2023 in the following databases: CINAHL, MedicLatina, PsycArticles, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science, having been contemplated publications in portuguese, english, spanish and french. Results: A total of 18 articles were included in this review. The results in implementig reminiscence therapy in the elderly population with palliative needs. Most of the integrated studies were developed in a hospital contexto and in palliative care units and lasted from 2 to 6 sessions of 30 to 60 minutes. The results of the review revealed that reminiscence therapy contributes to the improvement of anxiety, depression and psychoexistential suffering. In addition, it can help resolve unfinished business, express feelings, memories, desires, values and beliefs. Conclusions: Reminiscence therapy has shown to play a major role in respondig to the needs of the elderly population with palliative needs, however, further studies are needed on its implemention. However, the main contribution of this review is to reinforce the premise that more and more non-pharmacological strategies should be included, in this casa reminiscence therapy, in response to the needs of patients with palliative needs.
