Abstract

The following research paper “The current market and its opportunities for a fractionalized real estate investment platform” written by Tom Beyer introduces a new concept within the real estate industry. This paper talks about the opportunity of creating a start-up around fractionalized real estate investments. Due to the creation and further development of blockchain technology, it has become possible to revolutionize the real estate industry. Where before an investor would only be constricted to investing in real estate through private investments or REITs, it is now possible to invest in real estate through the blockchain. Research has been done to see if the idea of a fractionalized real estate investment platform is feasible and the market and opportunities have been discussed throughout the paper. A literature review has been conducted to gain more insights and information about the topic, followed by a market analysis which analyses the market size, competitors of the industry and potential customers of the platform. Furthermore, an online survey was performed to gain information and insights of potential customers. The data was then extracted from the online survey and analyzed in a descriptive, quantitative, and qualitative analysis. The research which has been conducted throughout the paper has resulted in an increased knowledge of the market and customer and feasibility of the investment platform. This and several other important findings throughout the research paper has led to the conclusion that there is an opportunity in this industry to make real estate investment accessible to everyone.
