Abstract

The modern concept of leadership highlights its importance due to the ability to influence both the personal and professional development of the followers and thus increase their efficiency and competitive advantage. Thus, the aim of this research “, is to analyze the link between the leadership style within an organization and its employees’ satisfaction levels. Furthermore, the paper examines the effect a leadership style at the top management of an organization can have on the commitment of the employees. Ultimately, the study will focus on further investigating potential link between job satisfaction and employee commitment by examining the effects of participative leadership present at two departments of the same company. Therefore, by carrying out both qualitative and quantitative research of the leaders and employees at Nokia Bulgaria, the study aims to provide an overall view of the impact participative management may have on two variables explored – satisfaction and commitment. Hence, the paper reaches a final conclusion that participative leadership does in fact lead to increased levels of employee satisfaction which on the other side brings up the commitment at the workplace. Thereby, it can also be stated that, although indirectly, applying a participative leadership style on an organizational level can also improve the commitment of the staff. Finally, the main purpose of the research is to provide theoretical and managerial implications of the findings that could serve as steps for future organizational development.
