This report has arisen as part of the 13th Master’s Degree Course in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Critical and Family Care, of the Institute for Health Sciences, School of Nursing, Catholic University of Lisbon. Its purpose is to critically and reflectively demonstrate the activities carried out and the specialised skills acquired during the internships in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, for the period from 1 September to 19 December 2020. Comforting action results from decision making, promoting hope, quality of life and translating into the level of quality of care. From the perspective of caring better for patients, in satisfying their basic human needs, the promotion of comfort emerges as being indispensable. Thus, therapeutic touch emerges as one of the strategies to promote comfort for the critically ill and their family. Thus, the report begins with a concept analysis based on Rodgers’ evolutionary vision, with the theme – “Therapeutic Touch in Nursing Care: a conceptual analysis”. This study was submitted and accepted for publication. Next, I try to mirror the learning path inherent to the development of specialised skills in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Nursing for the Individual in a Critical Condition and their Family, through a critical and reflective analysis of the practice carried out and the activities undertaken throughout the internship, including participation in the 3rd International Seminar of the Master’s Degree in Nursing, with the presentation of the Poster with the theme “Therapeutic touch in nursing care: an integrated literature review”, which obtained an Honourable Mention. In addition, drawing up an Interactive Poster and its presentation (as a presenter), through participation in the International Symposium on Evidence-Based Health Care – Coimbra Nursing School, with the theme “Therapeutic Touch: an autonomous nursing intervention”. There was also participation in the 6th Nursing Symposium 2021 – ASCI, with a presentation of a Poster with the theme “Therapeutic Touch: an integrated literature review”.
