Abstract

The present thesis aims at an analysis of the criminal reality demonstrated in International Traffic in Children. The acquaintance of the intrinsic and extrinsic characteristics presented at the modus operandi led on this crime is essential on fighting for the protection of children’s human and fundamental rights. The international normative instruments, in collaboration with the instruments of each State, allow the prosecution of justice, in a way that severely punishes the violations of freedom and human dignity. On an evaluation to the current reality regarding International Traffic in Children, we can figure that the countries of origin tendentially are the neediest of development, a fact that contrasts with the countries of destination, known as wealthy, civilized, forward-looking. Although, we are able to conclude that no country is safe from this phenomenon, which is transversal not only through gender but also through territory, culture, language, race or level of development, whether economic or social. It’s with the international cooperation that the fight happens on a daily basis, in many fronts, battling for a problem that travels in time as fast and sophisticated as their victims. It’s through international cooperation that the world tries to achieve a solution with the same size of the problem.
