Coaches’ actions significantly impact players' behaviors, cognitions, and affective responses, influencing learning and outcomes. Communication between coaches and athletes is the main vehicle for establishing relationships between these agents and, therefore, how it is experienced by all parts has an important impact. This study compares coach's communication during competition, using an observational grid of communicative behaviors conducted by a n external observer, coach's selfassessment of his communication, and team athletes' perception of such communication. A senior roller hockey team competing in the 3rd division and their coach participated in this research, following a case study methodology. The observation allowed for the conclusion that there is a prevalence of positive communicative behaviors from the coach, which is consistent with the perception of both coaches and athletes. Regarding negative communicative behaviors, athletes perceived them to be more prevalent than the coach's selfassessment. Developing the communicative profile and understanding how it is perceived by the coach and the athletes is essential to achieve the highest level of sports performance.
