Abstract

The present investigation aimed to explore the transmission of health meanings between parents andchildren inorder to identify and compare the transmission of perception from parents to children, infamilies with cases of renal failure and in families where the disease is not present. For data analysis, theActor-Partner Interdependence Model was used, which allowed an analysis according to the hypothesisof the effect of interdependence of the parts of the dyad. The investigation sample consisted of 92 triads,composed of the father, mother and one child. As for the results, the following stand out: the prevalence of transmission of the perception of health varies according to the gender of the parents, where it was found that there is a higher prevalence of transmission from Father to Son; and female parents only transmit the perception of health to their children only in families where renal failure is present.
