Many teachers work with students who present very low levels of motivationand for whom, apparently, school attendance is meaningless. This additional difficultyin the daily lives of many teachers and students was our greatest motivation for the study on How an ETPI school can be organized to welcome all the students and for the choice of the research area in which it is inserted. The research assumes case study characteristics and its objective is to understand how students and teachers perceive the schooling process in a disadvantaged socioeconomic context and understand how the school itself is organized so that all students feel welcomed, understood and have effective development on both cognitive, emotional and social levels. In order to answer the main research question, a survey was initially applied to the students. This survey allowed us to have an initial perception of the way students view school, the teaching practices and their occupational future, from which quantitative data was generated. However, in order to analyze students' and teachers' perceptions and experiences about school and the schooling process, we focused our research on the analysis of oral testimonies of the students, data was collected through the application of a group interview by using the focus group technique, and on the analysis of oral testimonies of teachers, data was collected through the application of semi-structured interviews. It is, therefore, a descriptive and interpretative study mainly within the qualitative paradigm. From the data collected and analyzed we can conclude that school "grammar" has remained practically unchanged and that transmissive pedagogy in school continues to predominate. However, the teachers of the class under study introduced more engaging activities in class, such as frequent use of videos, PowerPoint presentations and small surveys.
