: a manipulação de ritmo na montagem audiovisual contemporânea

Abstract

This current study aims to establish a relationship between the evolution of contemporary audiovisual montage and the evolution of the classic narrative. It will be analyzed how MTV developed a montage genre that was later extended to other programmatic areas of television and contemporary cinema. The music video was an essential vehicle in the massification of segmented and fragmented narratives, especially through the intensive use of techniques such as jump-cut 6, fast pace 7 editing, fast-motion 8 and slow-motion 9, techniques that would later be adopted in the same and different formats by other mass media industries. The commercial Hollywood cinema served as the foundation for the industrialization of the film medium, although throughout history there were exceptions. The premise of working with a logic where the producer has the power of decision opened the way so you can change any project in the middle of its execution or replace a director, something unthinkable in the European author cinema, where the director has usually the power to decide about the film he is directing. The american production employed in the blockbuster is build around formulas that were tested and repeated over decades. The logic of montage in the service of narrative, which organizes continuity between plans and paces, evolved into an invisible language that insinuates itself into our lives as spectators and, with few exceptions, remains the rule adopted in almost the entire contemporary cinema.
