Abstract

This report is a reflection on my professional history, centred on teaching practice and intended to bring light to the base issue "learning to teach". The relevance given to this theme is justified by my interest in the knowledge acquisition process - as I came to it, or as I took hold of it - articulated with the practice. As I look into the past, I am deconstructing my professional path in the aspects that I consider most significant and structuring in order to clarify and understand my training process for the performance of the teaching practice, in the absence of initial training, supervision and evaluation. Through the analysis of circumstances and actions in a timeline relevant to this context and supported by the theories and perspectives of different authors in the topics discussed, I try to understand and justify how the demand for knowledge and improvement, collaborative work and a reflective attitude prompted the improvement of practice, my professional development and the construction of my professionalism. In this context, a project implemented within the context of collaborative practices is presented and two testimonies are included. The theoretical framework presented is intended to clarify the concepts of (i) Reflective Teacher and Collaborative work; (ii) Supervision and Evaluation of Teaching Practice – key to the comprehension of the “learning to teach” subject. The reflective process carried out highlights (i) The teacher’s relationship with the school, and the meaning of being a teacher, (ii) Teaching practice and the significance of classroom, and (iii) Professional Development. It seeks to free itself from the past, charting new horizons and advance on a future projection the continuity of my professional development and the construction of my professional identity.
