Probations in nursing are special formative moments, as experience is converted into knowledge, through a constant process of reflection on the practices developed. This report refers to the probations developed in the Emergency Room (Module I) and Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit (module II), of Hospital of Braga and the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (Module III). The probation developed in the Emergency Room allowed the acquisition and development of skills in providing care to critical patients, screening and prioritization and stabilization and resuscitation from the perspective of user-centered care and family. The probation developed in the Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit allowed the acquisition and development of skills in providing care to critically ill patients with imminent or established (multiple)organ failure, without neglecting the human aspect and relationship with family and significant others. The stage developed at the National Institute for Medical Emergency allowed acquisition and development of skills in providing care to critical patients in the prehospital environment and effective communication with family and significant others. The contexts of the practice of stage revealed to be privileged places of observation and learning, allowing the implementation of knowledge, values and capacity to lead a practice of nursing excellence. The report is organized according to the powers prescribed by the syllabus of the course, indicating for each of the activities over the three modules of training, since it enables to develop the skills advocated in different contexts to provide care. Thus, it gives visibility to the various activities carried out and shows up the different responses to the same competence to develop in each field stage. Using a descriptive methodology it gives visibility to the skills developed and pointed to the difficulties encountered and resolution strategies developed towards specialization in Medical- Surgical Nursing after approving the report in public dissertation
