Abstract

This Final Report emerges from the Pediatric Nursing Postgraduate Course – aiming the Master degree, held at the Instituto de Ciências da Saúde, as a critical-reflexive answer about the Competences acquisition and consolidation, required to the Specialist Nurse. The performed internship course – since 19.04.2010 to 29.01.11 – whether on community (Centro de Saúde da Senhora da Hora) or in hospital environment [Serviço de Neonatologia (Maternidade Júlio Dinis), Serviço de Urgência Pediátrica (Hospital de São João) and Serviço de Pediatria B (Hospital de São João)], strengthened this Competences development, promoting the security and the caring quality increase. Assuming the human answer to life processes and illness events as the core of Nursing subject/focus, has been instituted in this vocational pathway the intention of delegate a Practice Focus, with the purpose of achieve sensitive gains in Nursing Care. A deep reflection about Parenting, scrutinizing is transition process, the circumstances that gives it is vulnerability and explicit focus commitment, appear as important descriptions in this course testimony, to facilitate the comprehension of the proposed aims and the adopted strategies with the purpose of its promotion. The end of this course allowed the conclusion about the achievement of the necessary Competences to the Nursing Specialist, such as: health maximization and answer to the Child/Juvenile vital cycle necessities, as well the support in special complexity situations always with the aim of the Centred Care in Family
