Abstract

This document is the culmination of an individual process of professional, personal and educational construction within the scope of the Master Course in Nursing, in the area of Specialization in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing, by the Portuguese Catholic University, Health Sciences Institute. Throughout this report we present a reflective methodology, the activities, objectives and competences common and specific in the provision of specialized care, acquired and based on ethical and legal as well as theoretical support for four internship contexts. This report aims to describe and analyze the course of development of common and specialized skills, as well as competencies of the master's degree. The main objectives are: To develop common skills of specialist nurse in the different contexts of the Nursing Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health; To develop specific skills of nurse specialist in Child and Pediatric Health in the different contexts of action, using the intervention Therapeutic Play. We begin the report with a brief outline of DIOGO's (2015) theoretical framework of mid range "Metamorphosis of emotional experience in caring for care" and its emerging concepts, in which this report is supported. The theme of this report is the Toy Therapeutic intervention, included in the emotional experience of DIOGO (2015). A Scoping Review on this theme was carried out, whose main results were the change of the attitude of the children when using the Therapeutic Play intervention manifesting itself by behaviors of relief, tranquility, confidence, adaptation and bond with the Nurse. A scientific poster about the Kangaroo Method was developed as this method is directly intertwined with the emotional experience. Activities were developed from the work of emotional management in the context of its application in a Personalized Health Care Unit, a Pediatric Inpatient Unit and a Permanent Pediatric Medical Care related to Therapeutic Play intervention. In the context of neonatology carried out in a unit of Neonatal Intensive Care, activities were developed on the Kangaroo Method. We would like to highlight the following activities: "Intervention and observation session", "An intervention to humanize" intervention plan "Play Therapy by the instrument" play box "and manual," Implementation of the Kangaroo Method in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ". At the same time, the competences developed were described, encompassing references such as the Quality Standards in Child and Young Child Nursing, as well as Guides of Good Practices in Child Health. They were also supported by ethical and legal assumptions, on which they were reflected. Practices, technical, scientific, ethical, legal and relational competences related to the implementation of nursing interventions of a complex nature have been consolidated, suffering from a reasoned decision based on a critical and reflexive thinking.
