This document has emerged within the report subject, included in the curriculum of the Nursing Master Degree with specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, with the aim of raising awareness about the learning process carried out during the course stage. The contents presented were based on the on-the-job training performed on the emergency department of the Hospital Centre of Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho and on the Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit of S. João Hospital Emergency, in the period between April 27 and November 26 2011, with 500 hours duration. This report had as objectives: to present in an organized and contextualized way the journey performed along the on-the-job training accentuating the activities undertaken during the internship, report existing situations and problems diagnosed, show a critical and reflective attitude in the face of situations encountered, make the learning process transparent and visible and finally, show the knowledge gained and the skills developed. The methodology used was descriptive because I felt it was the most suitable to achieve the goals. The work was divided in two parts: learning moments in the clinical context and reference to the problem situations identified on the internship places. In both parts I described the context in which they arose, enhancing their relevance, the activities done, the suggested/implemented strategies, the work and the reflections made and the skills acquired and developed. Finally, I emphasized the importance of the internship and the report for my professional development and clinical practice, considering that both contributed to my learning, allowing me to acquire and develop the necessary skills for specialization in the medical-surgical nursing.
