Abstract

Teaching Nursing in the clinical setting as a strategy promoter of learning, it is essential to the consolidation of what is taught during the Post-Graduate Course in Nursing with specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing and skills through experimentation in practice. The overall objective of this report is for the certification of scientific, technical and human defined by the Statute of the Order of Nurses, thus obtaining the title of Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing. This document aims to describe the activities, the significant experiences and reflections undertaken, showing the skills acquired during the journey made in the Emergency Service of Hospital de Valongo and Lar Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia. The methodology was descriptive and analytical and reflective, using as a constructive support, the draft stage and the stage portfolio of modules and ultimately, the research literature. The report is divided by areas of action of the Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing: professional ethics, design and care, training and research and management. In the module I highlight the first contact with the reality of an ER. Of nurses is expected to be able to deal with crucial situations with speed and accuracy, demanding increased powers in the integration of information and establishment of priorities, while promoting the relationship help, have to be able to listen and communicating, transmitting information and sharing emotions. Emphasize an evolution of the capacity of decision-making complex given the multiple dimensions of human beings, particularly the critically ill patient, urgent / emergent from the perspective of an advanced practice. Optional module in the choice fell on the Geriatric Nursing considering this essential stage in the development of skills in the area of interpersonal relationships, as well as the establishment of helping relationships with families and the elderly, contributing to the improvement of means of communication. I conclude by stating that the objectives were achieved, stresses the importance of stage and of writing stage and the importance of writing in the acquisition of skills that will in the future as a Clinical Nurse Specialist to develop nursing practice based on quality standards and on scientific evidence, in order to give a contribution to a new awareness of Nursing.
