Uma perspectiva das competências específicas do enfermeiro especialista na área de EMC

Abstract

This report is an illustrative document that reflects the path and the knowledge’s achieved along the
traineeship, it exposes life experiences, as well as the difficulties felt during the process and the
implemented strategies. This work represents the construction and the enrichment of knowledge’s
theoretical/practical in the acquisition of competences inherent of the nurse's degree specialist in
Nursing Medical Surgical along two Modules:Intensive Cares and Hospital Infection done,
respectively, at the “Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos Polivalente “ and “Comissão de Controlo de
Infecção no Centro Hospitalar Entre o Douro e Vouga”.
It reflects what was carried out during the Modules, through the descriptive analysis of the
developed activities, having into account the general and specific goals of the study plan initially set
out for each module, it contemplates critical reflections of determined situations problem identified,
proposing and implementing strategies for his resolution. The nursing interventions were always
carried out with agreement of Regulation for Professional Exercise of the Nurses and legal ethical
principles described in the Ethical Nurse Code.
The realization of this report stimulated my reflexive thought, contributed to my personal and
professional apprenticeship and for the conscience of the competences that I developed. The
acquisition of competences in a more autonomous way, the increase in value and the recognition of
the importance of the apprenticeship along our lives allowed us to approach nursing cares on
diverse angles, through Critical awareness, through ethics and social responsabilities on the path to
exclence at nursing cares.
Along the traineeship I define several acting strategies in a way that I could intervene more actively
providing the nursing cares according to the best practice. These strategies contributed for the
nursing team improves new working methods and change their behaviours.
This académic course was motivated by the awareness of the importance in the evolution of nursing
cares on critical patients, wich is my professional activity. At this way, the nurse's degree specialist
in Nursing Medical Surgical had a very important role on the recovering and maintenance of the
patient who presents the risk or bankruptcy of one or more vital organs and sistems, who survival is
dependent on the technical-scientific knowledge's permanently updated as well as the dedication
and environment, according to a holistic perspective.
