In a rapidly changing society, the traditional educational paradigms don’t seem to respond to the challenges that digital society puts to all its members specially the young ones. Teaching with ICT a classical subject like mathematics, with its own very specific characteristics, can add a different insight. In this work we question if the construction and use of digital resources, may have a role in motivating mathematical learning, and in enhancing the acquisition and consolidation of concepts, autonomy and self-confidence of the student. We used a case study approach with focus group discussion held in two 9th grade classes. The results lead us to believe that, the use and construction of digital resources, is a motivating factor that contributes to a consolidation of previously acquired concepts. However, not all kind of resources appear to have the same influence as motivational, and the context in which they are used or produced affects the assessment of learners. ICT also seem to have a positive influence easing the tasks’ application to new situations. This study is only a starting point for further research on the integration of digital resources in math chasses.
