Abstract

The traineeship Master in Food Engineering was held at the company SymingtonFamily States, particularly in the Quality Department of Materials and Finished Product. One of the main functions of the quality department aims to ensure the quality of rawmaterials, packaging materials and production process itself, which allow to obtain a finalproduct with the expected features. In the company there are two artificial vision equipmentto assist in quality control, increasing the speed and productivity of the process.Despite these costly equipment being used for many years, had never been subjectedto a validation. In this context, and given its importance, the opportunity arose to develop avalidation Project of the artificial vision equipment that analyze the finished product, installedin the Bottling Lines 5 and 6 of Quinta do Marco. With this project, it was intended to draw conclusions regarding the reliability of theequipment when inspecting the final presentation of the finished product, as well as to verifyif there are significant differences between the equipment of the two lines. A sampling planwas drawn up in which 12 types of flagrante defects and 14 types of fine defects in bottleswere artificially created and passed through each of the equipment in order to determinewhether they would be approved or rejected. Subsequently, the reliability rate of eachequipment was determined. It was concluded that, for the bottle type under study, the artificial vision systempresent in Line 5 is more efficient in the detection of defects than the equipment of Line 6,although the differences between them are not significant.
