Description
“Training of national judges in EU competition law and judicial co-operation between national judges” is an European project funded by the European Commission. The purpose of the Commission is to contribute to a proper implementation of Competition Law from the European Union.
This project involves audiences such as Portuguese and Spanish magistrates, trainers, researchers and other professionals from different Member States.
Key Objectives:
This European project funded by the European Commission main goal is to contribute to a proper implementation of Competition Law in the European Union, by improving knowledge in specific fields, namely, Private Antitrust Enforcement and State Aids.
The research results will be disseminated through publications, conferences and seminars.
The aim of the course was to give national judges a detailed knowledge of key issues in competition law (antitrust rules, State aid control and private enforcement) as well as to demonstrate the practical usefulness of those subjects, allowing them to apply EU law correctly. More cooperation between national judges from different Member States concurs to the effectiveness of EU law. In addition, in times of economic crisis, efficient justice systems are necessary to improve the trust of citizens and businesses in the functioning of a State and its institutions. The course aimed to share research and knowledge among national judges and prosecutors from Portugal and Spain.
