Resumo
This paper contributes to literature by " [...] problematizing the identification of the person with her brain, her neurobiological traits. The article considers that this neuroreductionist tendency owes its origins more to philosophy than to the neurosciences. Although recent scientific progress has added new evidence to an increased biological dimension, it gives reasons to continue to consider the person as an integral being, with multiple dimensions in relation, in particular "aware of herself as an autonomous agent, with a history and with the ability to shape her future in interaction with others, in accordance with fair social norms.» (Bioethical Gravitations, XV-VVI)
