Resumo

An Unfolding Vision (2021) considers the work of artist Rouzbeh Akhbari through a critical speculative fiction lens. A cyborg character from 2130, Azadeh, is conducting research on Earth—a place deficit of natural resources, merely maintained as a residual archive of past human existence. Through Azadeh!s field notes we see Akhbari!s individual and collaborative projects, Prizes from Fairylandand and Observatory of Riparian Repose under new light. Her journey starts in Mississauga on the shores of Lake Ontario in 2130, and ends somewhere between southern Iran and Zoom during the aftermath of the infamous 2020 pandemic. Rouzbeh Akhbari (b. 1992, Tehran) is an artist working in video installation and film currently based in Maastricht. His interventionist practice is situated within a postcolonial discourse that spans various geographies. His work is research- driven and exists at the intersections of storytelling, critical architecture and human geography. An Unfolding Vision (2021) is a work by Akhbari in dialogue and with the curatorship of Manon Klein, Agustina O!Farrell, Victoria Page, Alexandra Tavares Agostinho with graphic design by Raquel Guerreiro. https://www.rouzbehakhbari.com.
