N2 - The present invention refers to compositions and a method of obtaining hydroxyapatite and derivatives using a natural source, preferably cod bones. This invention provides an alternative manner to obtain hydroxyapatite and derived materials, thus exploiting reuse and valorization, in particular, of cod bones. The present invention discloses an apatite-based composition in which apatites are isolated from a natural source, preferably, cod bones and a. method to obtain natural apatite-based compositions which comprises calcination of cod bones at 600°C - 1300°C, in a heating ramp of 5°C/min for 1 hour.
