Resumo

Accurate diagnosis and treatment plan remains essential for predictable treatment outcomes with implants. Computer-assisted implant planning helps controlling the placement of implants with a high degree of accuracy, which has a direct bearing on the safety, esthetics, invasiveness and cost of implant treatment. A female patient, referred for implant placement, presented a bilateral pneumatization of the maxillary sinuses resulting in insufficient vertical residual bone. After a CT,the case was planned with Astra Tech's Facilitate™ software and, subsequently, sinus lift and placement of implants were performed bilaterally. The software allows implants to be planned in two and three dimensions using data received from a CT scan and this information can be used to provide an outcome analysis, giving the surgeon the possibility to develop a surgical implant plan that incorporates all relevant anatomical and prosthetic information from which the surgical plan is developed, thus ensuring consistent outcomes.
