Resumo

This essay is based on a general explanation of what artistic teaching in Portugal is, mainly the teaching of music or Musical Education; also, the several perspectives, problems, and solutions to implement the teaching of music in a sustained way in Portuguese schools. This study widely approaches the legal framing of this matter by the Portuguese LBSE (Basic Law on the Educational System) and other similar documents.
