This various chapters of this book shed light on the key Brexit motivations, takinga step back to better understand what shapes the UK’s political and economic preferences and what are its fundamental motivations and issues that have moulded its stance on the EU. Brexit-related political issues cover the political rationality of Brexit and the reasons for the UK’s unsustainable position in the EU, specific UK sovereignty concerns in the absence of a written constitution, the issue of preferences, and the UK’s prospective standing in the world post-EU exit. The economics of Brexit looks at economic motivations and the role of the model of development, examining the properties of the single market and EU regulation, as financial services and the City, the importance played by subjective well-being rather than economic growth, as well as the challenges to be confronted post-Brexit.
