Resumo

After the Restoration, the reinstated inquisitorial tribunals of the Papal State kept playing a specific role. Through a case study (the career of the inquisitor Filippo Bertolotti), this contribution aims to consider the specific weight held by these tribunals and especially by the Roman Congregation, in the rising of a new institutional structure between Center and Periphery.
