Resumo

There are only a few Portuguese Jacobin heritage studies. But the contents “of St James” stored in popular memory are really huge, from the pagan background to the intense Christian pilgrimage. Aquilino Ribeiro (1885-1963) was one of the greatest Portuguese writers of the 20th century; he was a son of the rural culture in the inland. Although practically since his youth he has lived in the urban world that was just beginning, he hasn't forgotten the wealth of the place where he was born. From time to time - I could say many times, because he wrote so much -the topic “St James” appears, wondering why and how, how we all do it and how will our children do it “in this pilgrimage to Compostela that life is”. Here's what Aquilino wrote by the end of his life.
