Resumo
Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) technology has proven as an effective solution for the wastewater treatment, mainly due to its compact microbial structure, with high biomass retention and, excellent settling properties.
The use of microalgae-bacteria consortia has been explored as a good alternative, as this symbiosis can increase the nutrient removal efficacy in the wastewater treatment: the microalgae growth generates O2 which can be used by bacteria in their biological processes, and in turns, produce CO2 that microalgae can assimilate for growth.
This work aims to evaluate the capacity of microalgae-bacteria granular sludge for the treatment of aquaculture wastewater and the possibility of recirculating the treated water, as well as the dynamics of the microbial community in granules.
