A moeda bancária: conceito, natureza e estatuto jurídico

Bank money is the prevailing type of money nowadays, representing more than 90% of the aggregate monetary mass worldwide. This paper aims at an introductory analysis of bank money as a legal and economic phenomenon, by analysing its concept, the Portuguese and European sources of its regulation, its distinctive features, its juridical nature and the main aspects of its legal regime.
